Remote blogging - woohoo
Finally took few hours of my no-computers-except-irc -time and got remote blogging stuff up. Including of course few paranoid security twists in config, which did not help things at all. Now even edit works, but does not preserve the date..

NAS, second attempt
The Tritton device proved to be quite unstable. That is the connections were
dropped after 15 to 60 minutes, randomly. Also the authentication did not
work consistently. So I returned the device and picked up new candidate. This
time not a xyz brand but a D-Link DNS-120. Looks promising again. It supports
2 USB HDDs or other FAT formatted memory device. We'll see, we'll see...

New gadget - NAS
While shopping in Fry's, I found a new toy. Tritton Simple NAS. The idea is
a simple enclosure with ethernet connector in back. I.e. fileserver with just a
hard disk and powersource. The fan seems awfully loud, otherwise a nice
gadget. I have to check out, if it would be simple to mod the fan more
silent or otherwise I might return it and try some other brand.

More memory again
I finally made it and added the last (which was earlier bad)
memory module to my SS5. Now the total is tremendous 256M. Whoo-hoo!
Since there was some downtime involved, I took the opportunity and
dusted the system. Surprisingly small amount of dust came off. Hmm...

Memory upgrade
Finally had time and energy to buy more memory to my SS5. And when it arrived,
one out of 5 modules was bad. That is one more reboot in near future after
getting a good replacement.. Well.. 224Mb is not so bad after 96Mb for a
while.. :-)
